(From our own Correspondent. ) THE FORGED BANK NOTES. Dunedin, September 9th. William Williamson, father of the photographer who has been charged with forging notes, was arrested to-day and charged with uttering, bat was remanded. DISAPPOINTED. Amy Merson, of Christchurch, was charged with converting money and goods, of which she was the bailee, to her own use. As she was arrested just as the iteamer was leaving for Melbourne, her children and luggage having gone on, a remand was granted. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. At the Chamber of Commerce meeting to-day the chief business was the pissing of a motion that the chambar should be represented on the Harbour Board, the new chamber having no representation. THE GOLD FIND AT HIKUTAIA.
The new find at Hikutaia is creating some excitement in Auckland. An assay by the Bank of Nsw Zealand gave 98ozs. of gold and 17750z5. of silver to the ton. Other assays are somewhat under this.
