Bubnsidb — Wednesday.

Messrs Reid, Maclean and Co. ropon for week ending August 31st as follows :—: —

Fat Cattle.— l 37 head were yarded to-diy, a large proportion being prime quality, This number (although below the average supply) following last week's overstocked market, proved fully equal to trade requirements, and although bidding was slightly brisker no advance on late quotations can be reported. Best bullocks brought £7 to £8 17s 61 ; a few pens extra prime, £9 to £9 10a ; ordinary aid inferior, £5 to £6 17s 6d,* cows, £3. to £7 12s 6d. — We sold for Mr F. Simmons (Makikihi), 4 prime bullocks from £7 12s 6d to £9 10s, and 1 cow at £8 10a ; and for Messrs R. Thomas, R, M'Donald, J. M'Cabe, and W. Williams, 8 head from £3 to £6 17s 6d.

Fat Sheep.— 4s67 were offered to-day at Burneide, of which about 900 were merinos, the balance crossbred*, representing all qualities. There being buyers in the market for freezing, prime wethers suitable for this purpose were fairly well competed for, prices obtained ruling about equal to last week's values, but light weights and ordinary quality were not in such brisk demand, values suffering a decline of fully Is per head. A draft of very prime crossbred wethers from the New Zealand Agricultural Co. (Waimea) topped the market, two pens realising 153 3d per head. Best crossbred wethers brought 12a 9d to 15s 3J ; medium, 9e 6d to 12a ; best do ewes, 9a to 10s 9J ; ordinary, 7s to 8s 61 ; merinos, 5s 3d to 7s 6d. — We sold 965 as follows :— For the New Zealand Agricultural Co. (Waimea), 250 prime heavy weight crossbred wethers, from 13s 6d to 15 3 3d ; for the executors of the late Mr M. Studholme (Waimate estate), 60 prime halfbred wethers at 128 9d ; for Messrs Robert Campbell and Sons (Station Peak), 210 merino wethers at 7s to 7b 6i— top price for merinos j for the New Zealand and Australian Land Company, Limited (Moeraki estate), 126 light weight crossbred wethers at 7s 9d to 9a ; for Mr Hugh Tolmie (Woioahi), 90 quarter-back wethers at 7s 6d to 8a 9J j for Messrs A. Peat and Sons (Mount Gowrie), 29 crossbred wethers at 10a 6d, and 200 merino wethers it 5s 3d.

Store Cattle.— There are a number of buyers in the market for well-grown bullooks, but as mobs of this description are scarce, few sales of any importance are taking place. Store Sheep. — As usual at this season of the year, there are few offering. Sheepskins. — The usual weekly sales held on Monday last were well attended by buyers. There was brisk competition throughout, prices realised comparing favourably with those ruling at previous week's sales. Rabbitskins. — We give the following as current values .—Best winter skins, Is 6i to Is 7d ; extra choice, a shade more ; medium to good, Is 4d to Is 6d ; early winter, 9d to Is 3d; inferior and summer, 5d to B£dj 'suckers, lid to 4£d. Pigs. — Ihere was again a small number forward, only 80, representing all descriptions, being penned. Suckers brought 53 6d to 9a 6d ; stores, 13s to 19s ; porkers, 22s to 30s ; baconers, 31s to 465 ; heavy weight do, up to 725. Hides. — We quote inferior and bulls', l£d to 3d ; light, 2id to 2£d ; medium, 2£d to 3±d; heavy, 3*d to 3|d. Tallow.— Consignments ooming forward find a ready sale at late quoted prices.
