Raport for tho week ending the 16th Jonuaty :•— • ' r \ Operations in grain and produce 'for the past week have been of very small dimensions, and the remarks of the previous week apply equally well to this. The weather has not bei'n all that could be desired for a speedy harvest, yet in some dis ricts crops of oats are so well forward as to necessitate cutting, and dcliveiies may be expected to take place within tbe next month or two. Although
the late hesivy rains have been pretty' general all over the provincej very ittle real injury to standing grain has. resulted, so that with a ' good spell of fair weather an abundant harvest should be gathered,- while the tendency of the Home inurkct continues to givd an earnest of better prices than wus anticipated a short time ago; Tho following are the week's quotations : — Wheat.— Tuscan, 3s ; pearl and Hunter's, 3s 2d to 3i 4-i (f.0.b.) ; chick feed, Is 6d to 2s. Oats. — Prime milling, 2s 83 ; bright short feed, 2s 4d to 2s 6 ; long oats, 2s to 2s 3d." Barley.— Mailing, 3s 6d to 4j ; feed^ 2s to 2s 3d (Christchurch.) Hutler and- Cheese.— 6d to 64d for the former; the latter, 4d lo4fcd (f.0.b.) • •
