(Reuter's Special.) London, January 15th. In its issue to-day the "Daily Telegragh" announces that the English and German Governments have arrived at a definite understanding regarding Samoa, and have mutually agreed to abstain from annexing the island. At a conference of working men of Great Britain, now being held here, the question of Imperial Federation was brought up for discussion, and resolutions were adopted declaring that fiscal and political federation of the Mother Country and Colonies is necessary, and urging its adoption. Many of the speakers declared themselves strongly in favor of abolishing the Colonial Office.

Cairo, January 13th.

Telegrams from Korti state that Colonel Stewart has arrived at El Metemmeh, on the Nile, and within 100 miles of Khartoum. Colonel Stewart will at once open communication with Khartoum, but no further advance takes place until General Earle has captured Berber and arrived with his troops at El Metemmeh.

Berlin, January 14th. A police officer of high rank, and who of late has taken a prominent part in the prosecution of members of Socialistic Societies, has been stabbed to death at Frankfort.

Madrid, January 14th.

Continued shocks of earthquake are being experienced in the southern districts, though not of such severity as those which occurred there last month. The weather is also unusually severe.
