This Company is formed for the purpose of urchasing and working on an extended basis the claims known as the Great Extended and Hales and Hinde's, and situated at the fam> ous Blue Spur, at the head of Gabriels Gully. The price to be paid to the present proprie tors for the claims, comprising 14 acres of auriferous land, together with plant and ma chinery, erected at a cost of over £7000, and valuable water rights, is £11,250 ; in part psy meut of which they will take 2000 chares in. the Company, upon which 15s per share shall have been registered as paid up, and tbe balance of the purchaso-money as may be arranged with the Company. In the past these claims have been worked at a great disadvantage, owing to the peculiar way in which they were originally taken up. The frequent transgression of boundaries has been from the first a prolific source of litigation, resulting in a serious loss to both owners? By working the two claims under the one proprietary, and the erection of improved machinery, a much greater quantity of cement can be crushed than hitherto, and at an estimated Baying of 25 per cenl. in labour alone. The claims are situated near the centre of the basin forming the Blue Spur, and em. brace nearly the whole of the gutter, where, as is well known, the richest cement has hitherto been found. Messrs Connell and Moodie have recently surveyed the claims, and certify the quantity of cement standing on the Company's ground to be 2,231,500 cubic yards. Their report aud certificate can be seen at the office of the Brokers. The extent of the auriferous ground being bo great, it is estimated that, using the present appliances for working, the claim could not be exhausted in less than 50 years. As an indication of the value of the cement, it may be stated that it waß assessed by the Court in June 1880, in giving judgment in an action between the Extended Company and Messrs French and Company, at twelre shillings and ninepence per cubic yard, and the amount of the verdict was based upon that value. In November 1879 an encroachment dispute between the Great Extended Company and Messrs Hales and Hinde was settled by the payment of 25s per cubic yard, after deducting working expenses. As a further test of the value of the claims, a return has been prepared from a statement furnished by the Bank of New Zealand of the quantity of gold purohased from the Great Extended Company, and from the books of the late firm of Hales and Hinde. The following are the figures : — 111 «1 g i 1 1 . 1 I ! Arrangements have now been made to amalgamate with the adjoining Claim (the North of Ireland) for the purpose of sluicing a Urge are« of surface cement, which, although well known to be highly auriferous, could not be sluiced to advantage prior to the amalgamation. I It is seldom the public bave an opportunity of investing in a mining property, the value \ of which is so well attested by past operations as that owned by this Company, and which will yield handsome and regular returns, commencing at once. Applications for shares will be received by the' Brokers, from whom any further information required i\sy be obtained. Tlie share-list will close on 15th April. FOR SALE. AFIVEEEAD BATTERY, with- Shed &c, in good working order.— For par iculais, apply to QUILTBR & MISCALL. \ Waitahuua Gully.
