A new departure was taken at tace meetings at the Onehunga (Auckland) races on Monday. The Licensing Committee refused to grant extension licenses, and in consequence the race meeting was carried on on temperance principles. Though there were a thousand people present, the meeting was quiet, and orderly, and the usual free fights did not come off,
