Jit C|REATJtpS!CANJ|[EDICINES la aJrfAl mi img J I m PRICfc HALF A CROWN Established in Australia in 1864 A MEDICINE to be taken internally, and used externally, for all NERVOUS DISEASES and INFLAMMATORY ACHES and I PAINS, composed of the choicest Aromatic Herbs, Healing Gums, Balsams, and Vegetable Oils. Cures Rheumatism, Sciatica, Gout, Neuralgia, Cholera, Spasms, Headache, Coughs and Colds, etc. SPECIALITY ! SPECIALISTS ! ! DRAW ON NATURE— SHE COMPELS YOU TO HONOR THE ACCEPTANCE. rnHIRTY years aince, when Dr Smith first J. commenced practice here, it was thought by medical men that to be a Specialist was derogatory to the professional man, but this, like most other innovations in scientific and lay matters, was found rather to aid thau to be " infra dig " to that profession, wherein the specially was practised Lallemand and Ricord, in France, and Acton, in England, were for years cried down by their medical brethren. Now and for many years past they have been looked up to and quoted by every man who pretends to hive any knowledge of the particular branch of the profession which I hese gentlemen specially devoted themselves to. It was the same with Erasmus Wilson, the "Skin Doctor," recently knighted by Her Majesty. Years since, it was the same with Dr L. L. Smith, of Melbourne, who practised (as did Lallemand and Ricord) as a Specialist. In all cases of diseases and habits which produce symptoms of Nervous Affections, of Skin Eruptions, of Prostration, and make human beings invirile, or which unfit them to carry on the purposes of their being, or which demonstrates itaelf, on the oi her hand, in Eruptive Diseases and Secondary forms of Affections. In all of these cases, how necessary it is to have the Specialist who has devoted his whole lifetime to the studying and practising in this one branch of his profession? Hence, now, after so many years, all minutiae are familiar to him, and symptoms which (it is not unreasonable to suppose) may not strike the General Practitioner at once, now from constant practice and observation make Dr L, L. Smith master of the subject. The medical Profession, — that is, the more liberal-minded of them— have-likewise recognised this fact, and Specialists now in every branch — oculi&ts, aurists, syphilic, mental diseases, chest diseases, and in fact every portion of the human frame, has now some member of the profession who devotes his time to that and to none other. For instance, the " chest doctor " would on no account attend an azcoucheaient, and the oculist -woxAA not tbink oJ setting a broken leg ; but each would advise his patient to go to that doctor wbo is most famed for treating the disease requiring special skill. Dr L. L. Smith asks those who require treatment for Weakness, Prostration, Bar. renness, nnd Sterility, whose frames and whose constitutions are shattered, to consult him as an expert — thirty (SO) gears' practice in this Colony, with a p/actice extending throughout not only the Colonies but in tndia, China; Fiji, and even in England, his claims ought to be sufficient to cause every man or woman requiring such skill as is alluded to above, to consult him either personally or by letter. As a Syphilographer, no other medical man has been able to have such large experience as he possesses, and for other allied affections— such as Nervous disease — no one iv the profession has enjoyed so much public confidence. Consultation Fee by Letter, £1. Medicines appropriately packed and forwarded all over the civilised globe. DR L. L. SMITH, 182, Collins-street East, Melbourne. OTA G O OOBN AND WOOL EiOHANGrE.
