LONDON WOOL MARKET.
Measrs Jacomb, Son, and Co., in their circular dated London, October 8, say :— The third series of public sales of Colonial wool for this year bas here closed to-day, after a duration of 38 days, during which period an average quantity of 10,676 bales bas been daily offered. Of the quantity sold, 170,000 bales have been taken for export, including some 1200 bale 3 for U.S.A. The course of the sales throghout has been disappointing and unsatisfactory to almost all concerned, but more especially to the unjustifiably sanguine ideas formed in all the wool-producing Colonies early in the year as to the future of our market. In comparing recent prices with those of former years it must be borne in mind that a very large proportion of this season's clip has been, in growth and condition, far inferior to its predecessors, and the large weight of such produce has borne heavily on a weak market. Good merino lambs' free from fault, beiia in very ehort supply, have been eagerly sought for at enhanced prices. The market for croasbreis, especially of the finer descriptions, has been steadier perhaps than any other ; we hope there is now some general indication that the long drooping values of this description have passed their worst.
