(Reuter's Special.) Melbourne, July 4th. The Addresses iv reply to the Governor's Speech were carried unanimously in both Houses last night. Mr Service declines to accept as final the decision of the Imperial Government regarding the proposed annexation of the Pacific islands, and intends to take steps to press the proposals more earnestly. A telegram received by the Government confirms Reuter's message regarding the Victorian loan. The average of the accepted tenders is £99 103 10d. Mauritius advices to June 21 report that the sugar market is inactive; stocks amount to 6000 tons. The clearance includes 250 tons for Dunedin, and 310 for Lyttelton. July sth. In the Assembly last night, after a long debate, a motiou was carried by 37 to 11 condemning the action of the trustees of the Museum in opening that institution on Sundays without the sanction of Parliament. Mr Service in the Assembly last night stated that he believed it only required pressure to obtain the proposed annexation of New Hebrides. The wreck of the ship Charles Roper has been abandoned, and will be sold by auction to-morrow. July 9th. The ship George Roper fetched £3600 at auction. DuriDg the very stormy weather yesterday the steamer Blackboy became a total wreck while attempting to obtain salvage from the George Roper. The crew of the Blackooy were all saved j by the lifeboat. Sydney, July 6th. New Zealand wheat remains at 5s 3d ; New Zealand oats have advanced 23 6d ; maize per bushel, 2s lOd. Svgar — Company's No. 1 piecas, per ton, £35. The French Consul in this city has taken occasion to deny emphatically the statement made in Brisbane to-day that a French war-steamer had hoisted the French flag in Mallicolo and Erromanga islands, in the New Hebrides group. Adelaide, July 6th. Wheat remains at 5s Id. The market is steady. Deliveries during the week have all been on a small scale. Town flour, £11 5a to £11 10s per ton ; country brands, £10 5s to £10 10s. Brisbane, July sth. The decision of the Imperial Government to repudiate the annexation of New Guinea has caused great dissatisfaction in the Colony. The Premier stated in the Assembly last night that he would leave nothing undone to carry out the desire of the colonies, and had no doubt the Imperial Government would ultimately consent. It is authoritatively stated here that a French war-steamer has hoisted the French flag on Mallicolo and Erromanga, in the New Hebrides group.
