LATEST TELEGRAMS.

(From our own Correspondent.) Dunedin, June 26th. Hugh Campbell, mate of the schooner Isabella, was drowned atCatlins River last night through the capsizing of a boat. Very little further information is to hand concerning the Waitara collision. It is surmised that both vessels were in charge of pilots when the .accident happened. Mr Carew will give his decision in the case, Maitland v. Smith, to-morrow. In Hagley Park, Christchurch, to-day, * young man was found dead, having shot himself through the heart. It is believed his name is Le Longe. Th* evidence at the gaol enquiry to-day was not important. Old prisoners principally were examined, ana they pould only indulge in the general ■ complaint, Mr Stout refused to examine most of these witnesses, as he considered their evidence untrustworthy. At the Educational Institute to-day, about 100 teacheri (mala and female) were present. Mr Fitzgerald (of the Normal School) was elected President for the ensuing year. Mr Neill (of Blue Spur) was elected as one of the Vice-Presidents.

At Auckland to-day, the Rev. T. Buddie, Wesleyan minister, and one of the first Maori missionaries in New Zealand, breathed his last.
