never complainpd of the want of coppertamping rods, nor heard any complaint. I think there would have been less likelihood of the explosion had copper-shod bars been used. After a few minutes consultation the jury arrived at the following verdict:— "We find that Bastian Ambrosie came to his death at the Blue Spur on the 20th July, 1878, by injuries sustnined by a premature explosion ot powder, whilst engaged blasting cement in the North of Ireland claim, and that the premature explosion was caused by the ira/ptoper. use of an iron tamping bar ; but we find the use of the iron bar was entirely bis ,own fault, as the claim was supplied with -^ropclen bars." The following rider was added to the verdict : "We recommend that jJI claims atjblie Blue Spur should be provided "witn'ljampiug'rods made entirely of copper."
