DELIGHTFUL FILM.
“ Kentucky Minstrels 99 at Civic. “Kentucky Minstrels,” now showing at the Civic All British Theatre, is an entertainment that caters for theatregoers, both' old and young. It has a charming true-to-life story with a delightful stream of humour running through it, and is studded with several of the old popular minstrel songs, including such favourites as “Oh Deni Golden Slippers,” “Doo Dah Day,” “Lousiana Lou” and “I Do Like to be Beside the Seaside.” For the older generation the chief appeal will be in the earlier sequence depicting the days of the old Moore and Burgesses Minstrels, while for the present generation the spectacular concluding scenes when Debroy Somers and his band and Nina Mae McKinney are seen as the modern minstrels, will be most favoured. The cast is headed by Scott and Whaley, who not only prove to be great entertainers, but also fine actors. Three excellent supports, and selections by Miss Iris Mason at the grand organ complete an outstanding programme.
