SPREYDON LINKS.
Left to Golfers to Take Action.
Regret at the City Council’s decision not to adopt the proposal to establish a municipal golf links in Spreydon was expressed by members of the Spreydon Burgesses’ Association at their meeting last evening. The decision was generally anticipated, but members thought that if golfers in the district took an interest in the proposal they might succeed in having the links established at some future date.
The Reserves Committee of the council advised in a letter that the cost was considered prohibitive at the pre-
sent 'time. Further, the Spreydon shingle pit, one of the areas it was intended to use, would be utilised in the near future by the council for other purposes. «
The opinion that the association was doing “ too much olf its own bat ” was expressed by Mr P. Hennessy, who said that if the golfers were as. interested as was claimed Lhey should come forward and assist.
