A letter was received from the Heathcote County Council stating that the Borough Council's share of the maintenance of Page's Road highway would he £3 10s and £5 for repairs to the Bower bridge. As no tenders had been received for the repairs to the Bower bridge, the council proposed to carry out the wok under the supervision of the county engineer. Mesdames J. P. Whatman and S. J. Russell and Miss S. James waited on the council as a deputation from the Waimairi Ladies’ Golf Club asking if the council would proceed with the formation of a footpath on Beach Road and from Marriott’s Road along Racecourse Road. The Mayor pointed out that the counr-il could not undertake t*> form a path for the convenience of golfers, as the club was oil the Waimairi side of Beach Road. The council already had a request before it and the present deputation might strengthen the hands of the ratepayers. The matter would receive consideration when the estimates were framed.
