The Christchurch Harmonic Society's recital drew a good audience on Saturday evening, many music-lovers being attracted by the favourable accounts of the presentation of Constant Lambert’s “The Rio Grande.” They went away more than thrilled with the fine rendition of this striking modern work. The work of the choir was excellent throughout the evening and Mr Victor C. Peters the conductor, was warmly applauded’. Soloists to perform well during the evening were Mr Frederick Page (pianist), Mrs R. E. Voller, Mr Rex Harrison, Miss Beryl Emmett Miss Ellis Fraser and Mr F. 11. Hawker.
