BIG SUM CLAIMED.

Bank of N.Z. Starts Suit in N.S.W. Court. SYDNEY, April 19. An action has been commenced in the Supreme Court, in Sydney, by the Bank of New Zealand, against John Wren, of Melbourne, an investor, in which the bank claims the sum of £15.225 in respect of a guarantee. The plaintiff bank alleges that the money was advanced to A. C. Cooke, Limited, on Wren's guarantee, and that the whole sum. plus interest, is now due and has not been paid. Wren denies the effect of the guarantee and contends that the bank, without his consent, advanced to Cooke. Limited, an amount in excess of the sum originally stipulated, which is the subject of a cross-action. The case is proceeding.
