ELLIS SEVEN AHEAD. L. J. Ellis, with two wins at Waimate yesterday, reached the seventy mark. K. RETURNS TO THE NORTH. Jockey R. J. Flower, who has been on the West Coast for the past few years, passed through Wellington on Wednesday on his way back to Ilawera, where he was formerly apprenticed to J. Brown. Flower can ride about 7.9, and as he is a thoroughly experienced and capable lad, there should be a demand for his services at Hawera. BARR’S WINNING TREBLE. S. Barr trained a winning treble at Waimate yresterday, and with tweintysix wins for the season he is now well in the lead in the Riccarton list cf winning trainers. Colossian is proving ' a bargain purchase. Silver Sight has been very narrowly beaten on several occasions this season, so it was his turn to score by a head margin. SOME SHAMBLE. Previously* this season he won the Rangiora Cup at Rangiora, and the Peninsula Cup at Motukarara. He has started eighteen times this season for six wins, four seconds, one third and seven times unplaced. His stake earnings for the season are £BIB. CHANGE OF LUCK. Mr J. M. Samson has had a great run lately, and Red Dance added to his successes yesterday at Waimate in a styde that augurs well for his future. The team which P. M’Grath trains tor ■Mr Samson at Riccarton was unlucky early in the season, but recent racing has made its record look much better. * * * * Croupier has been turned out for a good spell, but Marcus Cicero is being kept in useful work. NOW INELIGIBLE. By' his success in the Trial Plate at Waimate y*esterday Colossian made himself ineligible for the- Electric Stakes at Washdyke to-morrow. The Electric is for horses that have never won a flat race exceeding £SO in value to the winner. Colossian’s share of Ihe Waimate Stake was £55. FRACAS TO RESUME. Emanuel has decided to send his two-year-old filly Capris to Australia, and she will be shipped tc Sydney by the Wanganella next rriclay. Capris is a fine type of filly by Captain Bunsby from Charis, and m three starts has registered a third, a second and a first, winning the Victoria Handicap on the second day of the Auckland Racing Club’s autumn meeting. Capris will be trained at Randwick by G. Price. TROPHY PRESENTED.
