THEFT FROM HOUSE.

Six Months’ Imprisonment Imposed. Six months’ imprisonment with hard labour was imposed on William Thomas Crocker, forty-four years of age, of Alliance Street, who was charged before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., this morning with the theft of goods valued at £25 4s Gd, the property of Alexander Henderson and William Edward Buckingham. The accused pleaded guilty. Chief-Detective Dunlop said that the accused had entered a house at Kil marnock Street, Riccarton, on March 31, while the two occupants were away, and took a great variety of goods. The gas meter was broken open and the sum of 8s was taken. He got in through an open window. Some of the goods had been recovered when Crocker’s room was searched. The accused had a bad list, with six previous convictions for theft.
