AN URGENT NEED.

Education of Young People Out of Work. Concern at the position of young people leaving schools who were unable to secure employment was expressed by Mr S. R. Evison at this morning’s meeting of the Canterbury Education Board. Mr Evison pointed out the urgent need for some educational provision in such cases, and a motion brought forward by him asking the Minister of Education (the Hon R Masters, M.L.C.) to consider the matter and bring it before the Government was carried unanimously. The motion was as follows:—“That this board considers the time has arrived when the Education Department and the education boards should now seriously take into consideration the need for educational provision for young people who are unable to find work, and respectfully requests the Minister of Education to give this matter consideration and bring it before the Government/*
