MINISTERIAL. The Hon A. Hamilton left Dunedin by the second express this morning, cn route for Wellington. Mr R. Arlow, of Wellington, returned north last evening. Mr J. A. Hyndman (Tokio - ) is a guest at the United Service Hotel. Mr W. A. Smith (Dunedin), is staying at the Clarendon Hotel. Messrs F. E. Graham and F. G. Dunn were among the passengers by the Rangatira this morning. Messrs J. Mercer (Timarru), and L. Matthews (Wellington) are staying at the Royal Hotel. Sir Stephen Allen, chairman of the Transport Cc-ordination Board, returned to Wellington last evening. Sir Hubert Wilkins, the noted explorer, arrived in Christchurch from the north this morning. He left later for Dunedin by aeroplane. W. R. Care3*, manager of the Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing Company, Ltd., returned to Christchurch yesterday from the West Coast. Messrs J. J. Staples, L. D. Nathan, W. Anderson, C. -Trimnell and J. L. Vergette were passengers for Wellington on the Rangatira last evening. _Mr W. S. Wharton, secretary of the North Canterbury Hospital Board, was a passenger for Wellington last evening on the Rangatira. Messrs J. C. Webber (Auckland), L. A. Williams, B. Cotterell, T. 11. Duncan and Max Lawler (Wellington) and R. J. Sturgess (Tirnaru) are guests at the New City Hotel. Among passengers fer the north last evening were Messrs E. M. Hunt, of W. D. and H. O. Wills (N.Z.), Ltd., A. D- Cooper, of Sims, Cooper and Co. (N.Z.), Ltd., and P. Cohen, of Sydney, who leaves for Australia on the Monowai to-da>*. Official advice has been received of the appointment of Mr R. Boulter, C.M.G., to succeed Mr L. A. Paish as British Trade Commissioner in New Zealand. At present Mr Boulter is Trade Commissioner at Singapore. He arrives in Wellington on June 12. Mr A. J. Coveney, manager of Messrs Simpson and Williams, Ltd., who has been attending the annual conference of the Associated Booksellers of New Zealand, held in Wellington, returned to Christchurch yesterdaj*. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr B. R. Mottram. first assistant at the Waimairi School at the time of his death, was carried at this morning’s meeting of the Canterbury Education Board. It was decided to place on record appreciation of Mr Mottram’s twenty-three 3'ears’ service. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr R. S. Pearson, who was headmaster of the New Brighton District High School until his death recently*, was carried at this morning’s meeting of the Canterbury Education Board. It was decided to place on record appreciation of Mr Pearson’s forty-one years’ service.
