MARSHLAND W.D.F.U.

There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Marshland branch of the W.D F.U., Mrs Marks presiding A competition in toffee-mak-ing drew a splendid entry. Judging was by popular vote Mrs E. T releaven was the winner and Miss V. Boyd was second. The toffee was sold and the proceeds added to the division funds. Mrs Fricker, of the St John Ambulance Brigade headquarters, gave a demonstration on bandaging and also on first-aid treatment of various ailments. An amusing competition was judged by Mrs Fricker, the winner being Mrs M. Blank. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses. Mesdames Wilson, Palmer, Stackwood. Misses L. Slade and E. Jacob. An invitation was received from the Waimairi branch of the Farmers’ Union to attend a social at Belfast on May 14.
