EGG PRICES RISE AGAIN.

First Grade Jump to 2s Dozen Owing to Scarcity.

OTHER HOUSEHOLD LINES STEADY.

A sharp rise of up to 5d a dozen in the price of eggs took place this week. This has followed on an advance of 2d a dozen last week, and reflects an acute scarcity during the moulting period. It is expected that the position from the consumer’s point of view will be eased as the old hens come back into laying. At present the young birds are supplying most of the eggs. Duck egg s are also scarce. Fish is in medium supply, and prices show little change from those of last week. There are ample stocks of vegetables and fruit, and retail meat prices are unchanged.
