Meeting on New Date Promises Well. TO-MORROW'S PROSPECTS. Originally the Waimate Racing Club was to have raced on March 15 but owing to insufficient entries that date was abandoned. The Club is holding its annual fixture to-morrow when the number of acceptances exceed the entries received for the March date. Betting will be on the singie pool system, on a 75 and 25 per cent basis. The programme and prospects are: 12.30 p.m. STUDHOLME HIGH-WEIGHT HANDICAP. Of 75 sovs. One mile and a quarter. st lb stlb Black Duke 10 5 Star Raider 9 0 Rin Tin Tin 10 5 Bell Hill 9 0 Silver Sight 10 4 Adult 9 0 Gold Knight 9 0 Valves 9 0 The veteran Black Duke was third over a mile and a quarter at Tuapeka beating only Rameses home, but at Beaumont on Easter Monday he ran second over seven furlongs and won over a mile and a quarter from Red Racer Rin Tin Tin at Oamaru ran second (to Drumfire) over a mile. At Riverton after finishing second (to Kamal Pasha) over a mile, he ran unplaced over a mile and over seven furlongs. Silver Sight at Riverton was beaten half a head over seven furlongs, then ran unplaced over a mile, but on the third day won over a mile. Gold Knight was unplaced in a mile high weight at Oamaru, where Star Raider ran third and unplaced in the high weight handicaps. Star Raider was subsequently twice unplaced at Riccarton where he ran a fair race in the mile Addington Handicap. Bell Hill ran second in the first brush steeplechase at Riccarton and won the second. Adult shaped moderately in the Oamaru high weight handicaps. Valves is a ’chaser who has not raced for months. Rin Tin Tin, Silver Sight and Star Raider are likely to have admirers. 1.5 p.m. TRIAD PLATE, of 70 sovs: six furlongs—Call Money, Imperial Spear, Night Form. Colossian, Money Flies, Perfect Rose, June the Third, Janarose, Wonderful, Secret Paper, Desirable, Violenta. A number of these horses met at Oamaru last month. On the first day, when Red Dance won the Trial, Violenta was third, while Money Flies was seventh with Perfect Rose, Secret Paper and Wonderful further back. On the second day, when Air Pocket won the Novice, Violenta was second, Money Flies third and Night Form fourth with Wonderful and Perfect Rose unplaced. Violenta showed much promise. Since then Money Flies has run third in a trial at Tuapeka and won over five furlongs at Beaumont and the latter performance makes him ineligible for this event. Call Money, Desirable and Janarose have done no racing. Colossian won over six furlongs at Otautau, but was unplaced over seven at Riverton. Imperial Spear has been unplaced in his recent races but they were at Trentham and Riccarton. He is worknicely. June the Third at Cromwell last month recorded two firsts and a third in six furlong events. Violenta, Imperial Spear and Colossian may attract most support. 1.45 p.m. WAIMATE CUP. Of 120 sovs. One mile and a quarter. st lb st lb Shatter 9 0 Cleaner 7 0 Kamal Pasha 8 5 Red Racer 7 0 Chryeology 7 13 Black Duke 7 0 Some Shamble 7 13 Double Shot 7 0 Shatter is likely to have the benefit of a 51b allowance reducing his weight to 8.9 which is what he carried when he won the C.J.C. Sockburn Handicap, nine furlongs. He was fourth in the Great Autumn with 8.2. Kamal Pasha at Oamaru won the first high weight and ran third in the President’s Handicap, both being run over a mile. He had five races at Riverton, running third over six furlongs, winning twice, being fourth once, and further back on the remaining occasion in mile races. Chrvsology at Riverton was unplaced in the cup, but with SO finished third in one of the races won by Kamal Pasha, who had 8.5. Some Shamble won over a mile at Oamaru from Kamal Pasha but now meets the latter on no less than 181 b better terms. At Some Shamble with 9.4 finished eighth in the Autumn Plate, one mile and a quarter, but was a good second (to Southdown) over a mile on the second day. Cleaner ran fifth in the Autumn Plate and won over a mile on the second day. Red Racer ran poorly at Oamaru. At Tuapeka he won over a mile and a quarter, but at Beaumont two days later he was beaten by Black Duke whom he now meets on 91b better terms. Double Shot was second over six and over seven furlongs at Riverton. Shatter and Some Shamble may be the elect of backers. 2.25 p.m. MORVEN TROT HANDICAP, of 80 sovs. Class 3.45. One mile and a half. Adsum acr Trireme scr Captain Heath scr Atralette 36 Colonna scr Margaret Gamble scr Bingen 36 Guy Mauritius scr Parnell 36 Portlight scr Greenmantle 48 Silver Axworthy scr Gamble, who is engaged in this event, is highly spoken of. He is a Sapling Stakes candidate. A colt by Jack Potts from the American mare Lady Ann, he belongs to M. B. Edwards. Gamble, Adsum and Greenmantle may carry most support. 3.5 p.m. WAITANGI HACK handicap, Of 75 sovs. One mile. st lb st lb Water Polo 9 0 Adult 8 3 Pink Paper * L. Gold Boy 8 2 Brown Pearl 8 11 Madge’s Tray 7 11 Gold Knight % 2 Footwork 7 11 Star Raider 8 3 Gold Knight, Star Raider and Adult are referred to under the High Weight. Water Polo, who is now trained by J. Ross at Qamaru, was last of a field of three at Tuapeka, but at Beaumont two days later he won a double over a mile and over seven furlongs. Pink Paper finished fifth over seven furlongs at Oamaru on March 23. Brown Pearl was twice second over six furlongs at Oamaru. At Riverton she ran second and fourth over six furlongs, won over seven and was unplaced over a mile. Gold Boy was unplaced twice over a mile at Oamaru, where Madge’s Tray ran _ unplaced in the Trial and the Novice. Footwork has not raced for eighteen months. Star Raider and Brown Pearl may make most appeal to backers.

3.40 p.m. PRESIDENT’S HANDICAP, Of 80 sovs. Six furlongs. st lb st lb Hurlingham 9 0 A 1 Jolson 7 9 Merry Peel 8 Lord Argosy 7 0 Rin Tin Tin 7 9 Hurlingham was third in the Great Easter and second (to Copyist) in the C.J.C. Templeton Handicap, also seven furlongs. Merry Peel has not started since running unplaced in the Winter Cup last August. Lord Argosy has not raced since running unplaced at Washdyke in October. Rin Tin Tin is referred to under the High Weight. Ai Jolson has won at each of his last thres starts—at Oamaru, Tuapeka and Beaumont. Hurlingham is entitled to be the choice of backers. 4.15 p.m. HOOK TROT HANDICAP, of 70 sors. Class 3.6. One mile and a quarter. Courtenay and Yaldhurst Handicaps, both one mile. Crash was not in the first eight in the C.J.C. Papanui Handicap, six furlongs. Dracula, after running twice unplaced at Riverton, was third there over seven furlongs. He was conceding 71b to Brown Pearl, who won. High Speed, who has not raced since October, was unplaced nine times early in the season. Red Lance won the five-furlong Trial Stakes at Oamaru. but was only ninth in the six-furlong Windsor Handicap on the second day. Brown Pearl, Gold Bov, Water Polo and Pink Paper are referred to under the Waitangi Handicap. Dracula, Eupator and Brown Pearl are likely to have support.
