TARIFF QUESTIONS.
Early Consideration by Parliament. SESSION BEGINS IN JUNE. The Customs tariff will be one of the earliest items for the consideration of the next session cf Parliament. That assurance was given last night by the Prime Minister (Mr Forbes). The session will open in June, and as the tariff question will probably follow the Address-in-Replv debate, its tion will probablv t,.»Ve place about the second week in July. Another important matter which will receive early consideration is legislation relating to the dairy industry in New Zealand. Questioned as to the progress of the small farm scheme, Mr Forbes said a certain amount of work was in band Ihe scheme had not been allowed to die a natural death, but there were factors working to slow up its development, such as the poor prices for dairy produce, and the question of increasing producticn. To change to sheepfarming would mean the allocation of larger areas.
