Some interesting figures are contained in the anneal report of the St John Ambulance Brigade which has been issued by Dr F. 1. Borrie, acting-com-missioner. During the year thirty ambulance men had attended Rugby matches numbering 3500; League, 172 matches, involving ten men; Soccer. 260 matches, ten men; basket-ball, 2000 matches, thirty sisters; women’s hockey, 300 matches, twelve sisters; men s hockey, 300 matches, twelve men. Other activities attended were: Swimming, tennis, motor-cycling, dirt track racing, amateur athletic meetings, boxing and wrestling contests, competitions, band concerts, election nights, strikes, jubilees, agricultural shows, race meeting;* numbering thirty-three, galas, charity balls, and winter sports at the HermitI age and Arthur’s Pass.
