MODEL AERO TROPHIES.
Presented to Championship Winners. A gathering of model aeroplane fly ers from the three model aero clubs of Christchurch met in the “ Star ’ office last evening for the presentation of various trophies won during the 1933-34 season. Mr R. Marsden (chairman of the South Island Championships Committee) made the following presentations:—Certificate for South Island senior championship, A. J. Dacombe (Canterbury Model Aero Club); “Star” Challenge Cup for South Island boys’ championship, Albert Jones (“Star” Model Aero Club). The Aunt Hilda Challenge Cup (championship of the “ Star ” Club) was presented to Ralph Cashmore by Mr T. Cook, president of the club. A debate followed between Messrs W. Thomas and Dacombe on the new Wakefield Cup class regulations, involving a - technical discussion of the merits of thin and thick wing sections in relation to their weight and their lifting and gliding properties. Mr E. Osmond Smith gave a cinematograph entertainment.
