A CLEVER COMEDY.

Crystal Palace to Screen “ Lucky Number.”

“ Channel Crossing ” will conclude its season at the Crystal Palace Theatre to-night. “The Lucky Number,” one of the cleverest British comedies of the year, will be the major attraction at the Crystal Palace Theatre to-morrow. The principal players are Clifford Mollison and Gordon Harker, and they are supported by Joan Wyndham, Joe Dayman, Frank Pettingell and Esme Percy. The screamingly funny plot is based on the adventures of a lottery ticket, owned originally by Mollison. He, however, gives it to Harker, an hotel proprietor, in payment for some drinks, and later discovers that he has parted with the first prize! Mollison tries to buy the ticket back with borrowed money, loses it again, “ pawns ” a girl, does an impromptu song and dance at a fair, and almost every conceivable thing in order to regain possession of the now famous and exvaluable piece of cardboard. The action is extremely swift-moving and excruciatingly funny. The film is one long laugh from beginning to end. Gordon Harker, who is probablv the finest character comedian on the English screen to-day, is excellent as the hotelkeeper who first took the ticket in payment for drinks, and who goes with Mollison to Paris to collect the non-existent money. Joan Wyndham 1^ c^larm,n S as the girl in the piece and the supporting players all acquit themselves with distinction. Box plans at the D.I.C.
