SCHOOL GAME DRAWN.

Waitaki v. Christchurch High School. (.Special to the “ Star.") O AMARU, March 15. The annual' match between the Christchurch and Waitaki Hoys’ High Schools was concluded to-day and resulted in a draw. The weather was dull and light showers of rain hampered the bowlers somewhat. Waitaki carried its first. day’s total of 71 to 17S a s the result principally of a forceful strike for 65 by Cordon, and a solid innings of 33 by Capstiek. The former added 53 to his total this morning in thirtyfour minutes with good shots to the leg. Tre remaining batsmen went fairly cheaply. Menzies bowled well to secure six for 63. Waitaki followed on defeat. Kerr and Capstiek played carefully and took the score to 33 before the latter was caught. Blundell went cheaply, but Mackay made a useful thirteen. With the advent of Gordon, the rate of the scoring Increased, the partnership realising 89 runs. Kerr reached his half-century with confident batting, and Gordon got his 50 next ball. Kerr, however, was caught without making any further addition to his score. Holloway joined Gordon, and batted soundly. Gordon played Winfield on when his score stood at 65. Gowland and Adams reached double figures, and Holloway carried his bat for 32. The side were all out for 242. White and Winfield had the best bowling averages. With only forty-five minutes of play left and 129 runs to get, Shand and Menzies opened Christchurch’s second innings. Both batsmen went for runs. When 19, Menzies skied one to Kerr and was dismissed. At stumps Shand and Dawson were undefeated with 43 on the board. Scores:WAITAKI.
