BOYS’ CRICKET.

West Coast Teams Play Canterbury. This morning the Canterbury Bovs’ Cricket Association commenced its annual matches against West Coast teams, the games taking place at the Christ’s College ground. The under sixteen years team was opposed to Greymouth. and the under fifteen team to Hokitika. The West Coast teams have no age restriction. G-reymoutli Match. Canterbury won the toss and elected to field. The opening batsmen were Casey and Knapp, both of whom showed confidence, Casey attacking the bowling right from the start. Knapp, although not so aggressive, also showed a sound style in his batting. The first wicket fell with the score one short of the hundred, and. at the luncheon adjournment, two wickets were down for 174. Detailed scores:— GRCTMOUTH. FjTst Innings. Canterbury were sent to the wickets in the match against Hokitika and, although Gorman played oivs on to his stumps before scoring, the opening otherwise was a good one. Morgan, however, proved difficult to play, and Stapleton also kept the ball well up to the batsman. Nee, Miller and Adams all showed good strokes, while a sound knock by Spear enabled the innings to reach 111 lyefore the final wicket fell.

Hokitika were more aggressive. Adamson was lifting the ball, and was a trifle lucky to be still in when the luncheon adjournment was taken with the score 55 for two wickets. Details:— CANTERBURY. First Innings.
