Comment on High Wool Prices. HALF-YEARS FIGURES. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received December 15, 1.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, December 15. The half-year’s sales have resulted in (537,348 bales of wool being sold for £12,000,026, or an average of £lB 16s 6d a bale. The sales closed with prices at the highest point of the season. The “ Sydney Morning Herald ” remarks that the average price a year ago was £lO 18s 4d a sale, or 8.3 d per lb. Experts are of the opinion that the present buoyancy will be maintained next year. Though it must be remembered that depreciated currency plays a part in the high prices obtaining, it is the best omen for growers and the public that has been known for years. It will be possible to improve stations and flocks, with consequent benefits later on. The values of sheep have practically dotibled and there is some improvement in the demand for land. Average prices at the current Sydney sales are:—Greasy extra super merino fleece, 371 d; greasy merino fleece, best, 24d to 26d; good, 22d to 23d; average, 19d to 21d. * Greasy merino fleece, slight seed, best, 21d to 22d; good, 12d to 20d; average, 17d to 18d. Greasy merino fleece, burry, best, ISid.to 19kl: average, 16*d to’l7-ld; inferior. 13d to Greasy merino fleece, broken and first pieces, best. 23id; good, 19d to 20d; average, 17d to 18d. Lambs, best, to 282 d. Comebacks, best, to 26Jd. Cross-breds, best to 25Jd.
