SWING TO THE RIGHT.
Spanish Women Resented Religious Persecution. LONDON, November 23. “ Religious persecution under Socialist policy was mainly responsible for the strong swing of the electors of Spain to the Right,” declares Senor Lerroux, “ Grand Old Man ” of Spanish politics, according to the Madrid correspondent of the “ Manchester Guard- “ Granting the Spanish woman the right to vote amounted to giving her a pistol,” said the Radical leader. “ Since her feelings were much hurt by religious persecution under former Governments. all she had to do was to fire her pistol at us. There was no need for such persecution, which offended women's most deeply-rooted sentiments.” Senor Lerroux is of opinion that a coalition Government, including Radicals and Right Wing parties, should be formed, conditionally upon those on the Right, who have not yet defined their creed, accepting the Republican regime.
