Nelson’s Big Score Against Marlborough. Per Press Association. NELSON, December 2. In the first Hawke Cup match of the season. Nelson, holders, have a substantial first innings lead over Marlborough, challengers. Marlborough’s first innings produced 158 (M. Neal 19, Hastilow 44, A. Neal 30, O'Sullivan 18). Newman took four wickets for 42 runs and Freeman three for 38. At lunch to-day, Nelson, in reply, had 429 on the board for eight. (Kinzett not out 235, A. Newman 54, M’Girr 27). The weather was fine and the wicket perfect. Nelson declared at 2.30 p.m. with eight wickets down for 484 (Kinzett not out 272, J. Newman 40, Freeman not out 26). Marlborough in their second innings have 149 for the loss of four wickets.
