“BIRD PLANE” WRECKED

Does 60 Hours Flying and then Crashes. (Received December 2, 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, December 1. An aeroplane fitted with w r ings, based on studies of birds in flight, was wrecked in Gloucestershire, and Captain Ilaint, the well-known test pilot, narrowly escaped when the machine became uncontrollable through wing flutter. The inventor, Signor Antoni, said that the plane had done 60 hours without trouble and he was unable to understand the accident. He had intended to demonstrate it before Air Ministry experts.
