BACK TO CHILDHOOD.
“ Juvenile ” Guests at Last Night’s Dance. ST JOHN AMBULANCE FUNDS. “ Back to Childhood ” parties are popular with many Christchurch people for the gay informality which is their chief characteristic, and that held last evening, in the St John Ambulance Hall to raise funds for furnishings for the dressing-room was no exception in this respect. A committee of the Christchurch Nursing Division of the St John Ambulance Brigade was responsible for the arrangements. The committee comprised Miss I. Pegler (acting-lady superintendent of the Christchurch Division), Mesdames J. O. Callaghan. O. Alexander, L. A. Morrison, D. K. Thomas, J. Leech, J. Virtue, D. Woolford and G. Lumb, jun., and to these ladies credit is due for the success of the evening. Dr F. J. Borrie (assistant commissioner), Captain G. Peek (district superintendent), Mrs A. Bishop (lady district superintendent), Mrs A. Fricker (lady corps superintendent). Mrs A. Angus (lady superintendent of the Selwyn Nursing Division) and Mrs Cordv (lady district officer) were present during the evening. Father Christmas, with his sack of toys, handed out gifts to the good and bad alike, and childhood games were played. Prizes were awarded as follows: Nearest to babyhood, Mary Harrow; best schoolgirl. Mrs Sheppard; best pair, Mrs J. Virtue and Stan Clarkson; best back to boyhood, Mr Noel Milne; best schoolboy, F. Jack and SergeantMajor Rudd (equal). Pupils of Miss Lettv Naylor contributed a dainty tap ballet, and a tap trio and song were contributed by Yvonne Whall, Tui Naylor and Neville Miller. Mr Noel Milne was M.C., and music for the dancing and games was supplied by the Row-Wallace orchestra. Those present included:—Mr and Mrs C. Angus, Mr and Mrs G. Lumb. jun., Mr and Mrs W.
