After a quiet start, there has been considerable activity on the Exchange this week and a good list of Bales has already been put through. At. this morning’s call .there was well sustained inquiry in all sections. Fd.rm.ers' Auctioneering shares were in special request, with buyers for ordinary £5 shares at £2 15s. for A £1 preference shares at 19s 6d; and for B's at 19s. Bank of New South Wales shares eased with sellers at £B3 15*. In the mining section, Waihis were again in demand at £1 6s 3d. Government 4 p.c. (Special to the ** Star.”) DUNEDIN, November 21. The Sailors’ Gully Sluicing Company, Waitahuna Gully. cleaned up a paddock for a return of 629 ounces of gold. A dividend of 3s a share has been declared and a substantial sum placed to reserve. This is the largest return won by the company. WESTPORT COAL

Interim Dividend Paid by Company. The fifty-second annua] report of the directors of the Westport Coal Company, Ltd., to be presented at the annual meeting of shareholders on November 27, states:— The profit for the vear, after providing for bad and doubtful debts, depreciation and all charges, amounts to 116./96 6s lOd, to which must be added the sum of £9430 9s 5d brought forward from last year, making a total of £26,226 16s 3d. An interim dividend of 3d per share was paid for the half-year ended March 31, 1933 (£5625), leaving a balance to be dealt with of £20.601 16s 3d The directors now propose to pay a dividend of 6d per share for the halfyear ended September 30, 1933. amounting to £11,250, and carry forward to next vear’s account the sum of £9351 16s 3d. Shoujd these proposals be adopted, dividend warrants will be posted immediatlv after the meeting. The mines and plant have been maintained in the usual state of efficiency.
