The Newmarket second October meeting was continued to-day. Their Majesties the King and the Queen were present to see the Royal candidate Limelight run in the Cambridgeshire, for which he was the overnight favourite. Limelight missed a place, the winner being Sir Abe Bailey’s three-year-old Raymond. Details: CAMBRIDGESHIRE STAKES. A handicap of 25 sovs each, with 1000 sovs added. Second horse to receive 300 sovs and third horse 100 sovs from the stake. One mile and a furlong. RAYMOND. Sir Abe Bailey’s b c. by Gainsborough—Nipisiquit, 3yrs 1 DENBIGH. Sir Ernest Tate’s b h, by Winalot—Friar Palm, 4vrs .. 2 STALKY. Sir Thomas Putnam’s b c, by Sonning—Red May, 3yrs 3 Twenty-six horses started. Won by two lengths, with three-quarters of a length between second and third. KING’S HORSE FOURTH. British Official Wireless. (Received October 26, 12.50 p.m.) RUGBY, October 25. Despite unfavourable weather the King and Queen drove from Sandringham to Newmarket to see the Cambridgeshire Stakes. The Prince of Wales and the Princess Royal also were present. The King’s horse, Limelight, which started favourite, was fourth. Gordon Richards. the ‘ champion jockey, had four mounts at the Newmarket meeting and won on one. He has now ridden 237 winners this season, compared with Archer’s record of 246.
