SEVEN YEARS’ SILENCE.
Parsee Hermit Regarded as New Messiah. LONDON, October IS. Sri Maher Baba, tbd Parsee whom his followers regard as a new Messiah and who has not spoken a word for seven years, has postponed for another year his great message which, he declares, will change the whole course of human affairs. Baba, who is bearded and with flow 7 - : ing hair, has an impressive personality, enabling him to spellbind thousands of his followers of all races. At present he is secretly visiting England, but originally' intended going to Chicago to break his silence by addressing a religious congress. He now announces its postponement “ at the wish of My Lord.” A “ Sunday' Sun ” representative, seeking an audience at Baba’s residence, a spacious flat at Maida Yale, found him garbed in white pyjamas and a long Indian robe. He was surrounded’ by' his disciples, including a y-ounger brother, who is also his secretary 7, and who alone understands Baba’s method of writing shorthand on a slate, which he does at great speed, in order to convey his talks to the disciples. Baba, by that means, declared: “I have the Lord’s message to give to humanity’. It has world-wide significance and is not meant for any particular caste, race, or religion. “It is a synthesis of all religions, particularly' the Hindu philosophy, ba#od on self-realisation in an absolutely' original and unique manner. “ Humanity’s great need to-day' is a spiritual message. I am glad the Lord har made me His instrument.”
