WAR MEMORIAL FUND
Search for Addresses of Subscribers. Since the meeting of subscribers to the War Memorial Column Fund ;vas held last week to consider the proposals of the Returned Soldiers’ Association for the diversion of a portion of the fund for the assistance of returned soldiers and their dependents who are in distressed circumstances, every endeavour has been made to obtain the addresses of subscribers who are still living. In accordance with the decision of the meeting, the assistant Town Clerk (Mr J. F. Eames) and the secretary of the Returned Soldiers’ Association (Mr E. F. Willcox) have been engaged in checking the list of subscribers to the fund and endeavouring to ascertain their addresses. This has involved a great deal of work and a good many addresses have been found, but there is still a considerable number who have not been traced. All the subscribers whose addresses have been found will be communicated with by circular and a further meeting will be called by the Mayor earl}' next month.
