AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. (Special to the '* Star.’*) AUCKLAND. December 22. The Stock Exchange adjourned at noon, to-day for the Christmas and New Year vacation, and will reassemble on January 9. At the morning call the secretary read fraternal greetings from a number of other Dominion exchanges. Mr Frances Hull, as father of the Exchange, was given the opportunity to say a few words concerning the conduct of the Exchange during the past year. Mr Hull said the Exchange had been a very happy family, with no disagreements of any kind. Wishing his fellow members a happy time in the coming year, he said: “Let us hope it will be more profitable. I think we could stand it." Few sales were recorded at the last call of the year, and, although bidding was not brisk, recent quotations were generally maintained. Government stocks continued in demand, and a goodsized parcel of Si's changed hands at £99 2s 6d. WELLINGTON HARBOUR FINANCES. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, December 22. An improvement in general cargo imports for November was reported to the Wellington Harbour Board. The chairman (Mr C. J. Norwood) said that the figures were satisfactory as showing the tendency towards a movement in trade in a direction which would be helpful in a small way to the board's finances and the country generally. It was the first month for a considerable time that the figures had shown an upward tendency. AUCKLAND. December 22.
