Walier, a Sydney business man, a passenger by the Orford from England, said the British public wanted chilled beef and a big market awaited Australia if more ships were fitted for the carriage of chilled meat: A way had been found of treating Australian chilled meat and landing it in England successfully, but to develop the trade there must be weekly shipments. FREEZING FINANCE. Purpose of Moratorium Bill. (Received November 2, 1.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 2. The Amending Moratorium Bill was read a first time in the Assembly' The Minister of Justice (Mr Martin) said its objects were to protect mortgagors who were temporarily unable, through economic circumstances, to discharge their liabilities; to protect lenders who had relied on the good faith of those with whom they were dealing; and to free financial transactions as far as possible from hampering restrictions and so create an atmosphere of confidence and Stability. The trading banks had stated that if such a measure were passed many millions would be available to producers snd the trading community.
