MYSTERY HIKE.
Big Crowd Expected to Make Trip. The Railway Department has intimated that to-morrow’s Mystery Hike will be a particularly easy one: in fact, it will only be about eight miles over easy country. However, intending trampers are assured that this country will provide much scenery and the views to be obtained will be well worth while. Those who are fortunate enough to possess a pair of field glasses would be well advised to carry them, the distant scenery being particularly fine. The tramp is to be over sheep country, and the gently undulating nature of the ground should not prove too much for anybody. It is expected that to-mor-row’s train will be the biggest yet, as several hundreds have notified the department of their intention to make the trip. One party will be 200 strong. As sheep farmers have granted permission for the trampers to cross their lands, it is expected of the hikers that they will not disturb the sheep any more than is absolutely necessary.
