VENDETTA.

CHICAGO METHODS USED IN MELBOURNE. Sawn-ofF Shotgun Attack. GANGSTERS IN CAR FIRE UPON MEN IN STREET. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received October 8, 11.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE. October 8. Chicago methods were witnessed here when two men standing outside the Exchange Hotel, in Bay Street, were fired at with a sawn-off shotgun and a revolver by men in a passing motor-car, who later doubled back and fired at a house when# apparently they thought their victims had taken refuge. One man was slightly wounded. It is believed that the affair is a vendetta. Another shooting occurred last night at Port Melbourne and resulted in a man being taken to hospital with a bullet wound in his back. His account of the shooting is not helpful to th« police.
