COMING TEST GAMES.
The Strength of England’s Attack. LONDON, September 30. ” Voce will be a menace, and he will trouble Bradman. If he resorts to the leg-theory, he will secure a harvest of wickets in Australia,” writes Alan Fairfax in the “ Evening News.” “ Voce might prevent Bradman’s | phenomenal run of scores,” continues Fairfax, who says the Australians were delighted when Voce was not chosen ! to play against them in 1930. ' *' The Australians do not like the legtrap, especially if it is speedy,” adds the former Australian. “ Voce’s bowling is treacherous, and he can make a good length ball flv. He might be a real terror on the Melbourne wicket.” The writer says he thinks Brown and Mitchell will not trouble Bradman, but that they will be essential against the last six or seven Australian batsmen. “ I inspected the Oval pitch at the scene of Bowes’s pre-selection success,’ he says, “ and I was astonished to find that the majority of his deliveries were pitched twelve yards from the popping crease. This will be far too short on Australian wickets. Allen may cause havoc to some of the Australians.”
