MUSICAL COMEDY.

Jack Buchanan and Irene Bordoni in “ Paris.”

“ Half Shot at Sunrise,” Wheeler and Woolsey’s splendid farce-comedy, will conclude its season at Everybody’s Theatre to-night. Commencing on Monday, Everybody’s Theatre will screen “Paris,” the musical comedy starring Irene Bordoni. Playing opposite the star in this gay lilting comedy of the French capital is Jack Buchanan, the English stage star, who has been featured in New York and London musical shows, and especially in the famous Chariot’s “ Revue.” Buchanan has appeared in many recent talkie successes, and in “ Paris ” he gives a performance which is in keeping with his other splendid portrayals. Others in the notable cast are Louise Closser Hale and Zasu Pitts. The score of the production is fairly overflowing with melody, the outstanding numbers being "Miss Wonderful,” “My Lover, Master of My Heart,” “ Somebody Mighty Like You " and “ I Wonder What is Really on His Mind?” Irene Bordoni is refreshingly different. From her intriguing French accent to her twinkling toes she spells a novel screen personality. The star sings and dances in some very spectacular theutre sequences, although the picture Is mostly a comedy-drama. Some of the outstanding scenes of “Paris” are made in Tec-hnicolour—including that of a famous Parisian music-hall during the performance of one of those glittering revues for which the City of Light is so famous. Irene Bordoni has the role of a French actress, a darling of Paris, who falls in love with an American youth because she believes he has a nice, sweet mother. Her partner on the stage is also in Jove with her. but she never takes him seriously, because he cannot keep a straight face even when proposing. Box plans at The Bristol.
