Kay Francis Starred at Crystal Palace.
The programme at the Crystal Palace Theatre features “ Man Wanted,” starring Kay Francis. This is this popular player’s first starring film for Warner Brothers, and in it she is said to surpass all her previous performances as an actress. The plot presents several new angles hitherto not seen on the screen, and handles novel situations in a racy and delicate manner. The action is rapid, moving from one beautiful setting to another, reflecting the fast pace and speedy life of modern fashionables in business and societv. Kay Francis is cast in the role of a rich society woman in “ Man Wanted ” the story of whie# was specially written for her. She does not agree with her husband’s mode of living and eventually both realise that their life together is a mockery and agree to separate. In the meantime Kay has fallen in love
with her secretary, played bv David Manners, and her husband (Kenneth Thomson) leaves for Paris The story works out to the complete happiness of all concerned, with the complications ironed out satisfactorily and amusingly. Kay Francis’s flair for drama is given full play against a background of luxury which is rarely seen on stage or screen. She reveals an ability which ranks her among the first five of the screen's great feminine stars. Supporting Kay Francis in important parts are Una Merkel, Claire Dodd, Charlotte Merriam, Edward Van Sloan, Elizabeth Patterson. Robert Greig and Betty Farrington. Box plans at The Bristol.
