MUNICIPAL BAND.

An important event in the Municipal Band year, the Deans Cup contest, was held this year in Messrs Charles Begg and Company’s concert chamber, and was won by M. Codyre (E fiat Bass), 90 points, with A. Sharpe (euphonium), 88 points, second, and D. Stribling (trombone), 86 points, third. Mr A. Schnack, who judged the competition, referred to the excellent standard of playing and congratulated the competitors on their performances. Mrs W. Dean presented the trophy to the winning soloist and also presented a miniature cup to H. Gracey, last year’s winner.
