TENNIS TOURNAMENT.
A successful tennis tournament, which realised about £4 for the Cathedral stall of St Saviour’s Market, was held at the Opawa courts yesterday afternoon. The tourney was organised by Miss Dora Harman and, in spite of the cold and showery weather, was well attended, some keenly contested games adding to the enjo)-ment of the players and onlookers. Winners of the tournament were: — Senior grade, Mrs Shennan; second grade, Mrs Johnston and Miss Eleanor Denniston (equal). The afternoon tea arrangements were in the hands of Mesdames J. Maling, Vernon, sen., E. Harris, D. Hoare, J. S. Kelly, Misses Heywood, L. Bowen and E. Overton, j Donations were sent by the following, who were unable to be present:—Mrs H. C. D. van Asch, Royds, J. C. Lord, Symes, J. Woodhouse, Donald Dobson and Miss Hawkins. Those playing were: Mesdames Wake, Egan, Thomson, Shennan, Woods, HandNewton, Stevenson, Bradford, Holmes, Clemens, Johnstone, Moore, Misses Oxley, Cora Wilding, Diddains, J. Hart, Eleanor Denniston, Joyce Perry, MacGibbon, Webb.
