Miss M. Hunter, Christchurch, is staying with her brother, Dr Stewart Hunter, Waikari. Mrs W. Napier, Waimate, and her daughter, Mrs Quaife, are the guests of Mrs A. T. Chapman, Knowles Street. Miss Joan Austin, Melbourne, is the guest of Mrs Maurice Macfarlane, “ Awapuni,” Waikari. Mrs Dan Reese, who has been spending a holiday in Wellington, returned home this morning. Mrs J. Heard (Waiau) and Mrs G. W. Sare, Wellington, are staying at Warner’s Hotel. Mr and Mrs Gerald Rosenbaum (Wellington) are staying at the United Service Hotel. Mrs Sarsfield Flood (Dunedin), who has been visiting friends in Christchurch, returned to her home yesterday. Mrs J. Bigg-Wither, who has been visiting N Hawke’s Bay, is spending a few days in Wellington, and will return to Christchurch to-morrow. Bishop West-Watson and Mrs WestWatson, who have been on a visit to the West Coast, returned to Christchurch to-day. The Hon G. J. Smith and Mrs Smith, “ Riverlaw,” who have been visiting the North Island, will return home tomorrow. The following are among recent arrivals at the Hotel Federal:—Mrs A. E. Lawry (Geraldine), Mr T. W. Horner (Hawera), Mr Robt. Russell (Masterton). At Buckingham Palace on Thursday his Majesty the King received Lady Ali Shah, mother of the Aga Khan, and invested her with the inFignia of the Order of the Crown of India. Mrs W. 11. Saxby, Armagh Street, returned to Christchurch this week from a trip abroad. Her daughter, Miss Peggy Saxby, who accompanied her, is visiting friends in the North Island. Mrs M. Bassett, Dublin, who has been staying with her daughter, Mrs B. L. Blunden, Waikari, is the guest of Mrs R. M. Morten, Tai Tapu, prior to a visit to Mrs George Shirtcliffe, of Wellington. Among the guests at Stonehurst are: Mr Gaze, president of the Baptist Union of New Zealand, and Mrs and Miss Gaze (Auckland), Mr and Mrs Smyth, Mr L. Adams (Auckland), Mr Smart (Temuka), Mr R. Murphy (Wellington), Misses Alley (2) and Mr and Mrs S. C. Hercus (Dunedin). The latest arrivals at Storey’s Hotel include:—Mr and Mrs Condon (West Coast), Mrs R. Woods (Dunedin). Mrs J. E.
