Everv characterisation is a masterpiece, while scintillating dialogue completes what must be considered the most hilarious riot of fun the talking screen has yet provided. “Lonely Wives” tells how, to fool his prying mother-in-law and, incidentally, enable him to keep an appointment with a charming young client seeking a divorce, a prominent attorney mduces a vaudeville impersonator to I take his place for one evening. Still more unfortunately, it develops that his young client is the wife of the vaudeville impersonator. The errant husband does not return until morning and then be is closely trailed by the young client. The situation that results is probably the most comical since the advent of talking pictures. Patsy Ruth Miller portrays Horton’s vivacious and wise-cracking secretary, while Maude Eburne, stage actress, has a hilarious role as the mother-in-law. bpencer Charters, who will be remembered for bis work in “Whoopee.” is also in the cast.
