ONE-MAN TRAMS.
Proposal to Prepare New Timetable. Re-grouping of trams will be necessary for the operation of the one-man cars, according to a section in the report of the Works and Traffic Committee to the Christchurch Tramway Board yesterday afternoon. The selection of routes for one-man trams to Spreydon, Cranford Street, Lincoln Road, St Albans Park, and Papanui made re-grouping necessary, it was stated. Trams to Lincoln Road and St Albans would run together, and Spreydon, Cranford Street and Papanui trams as at present. This left the Worcester Street, Linwood and Cashmere trams unattached. It was not desirable that their journeys should terminate in Cathedral Square, so they would run through together.’ forming one route. These changes would be made as soon as the timetable could be prepared, and without waiting for the employment of the new one-man cars. On the . suggestion of Mrs E. R. M Combs it was decided to announce the new proposal and defer discussion till the next meeting of the board.
